Beachcomber's Sunday Afternoon cruise is one of sheer delight, featuring a combination of highlights from our Ship Cove Cruise and Motuara Island Bird sanctuary Eco Tour.
You will cruise to the outer reaches of the Queen Charlotte Sound where you will visit the Motuara Island a 'predator free bird sanctuary'. Spend thirty minutes here and encounter the variety of birds that inhabit this wonderful Island, if you're lucky you may even catch a glimpse of a 'Little Blue Penguin'.
After leaving Motuara Island you will cruise to historical Ship Cove, named by Captain Cook in 1770. Here you will have the opportunity to go ashore for a 15 minute stroll on the beach with the resident Oyster Catchers, Paradise Ducks and the native Wood Hens (Weka) and visit Captain Cook’s monument to commemorate his visits here.
Jump aboard again and begin to make your way home, viewing the salmon farm in Ruakaka Bay along the way.
