Family owned and operated Picton based, Beachcomber Cruises and Picton Water Taxis are Queen Charlotte sounds cruise and Queen Charlotte Track transfer specialists.

Servicing the Queen Charlotte Sounds for cruises options and also the Queen Charlotte Track for walkers and bikers. We offer a range of cruises including our New Zealand Post Mail Run and a private water taxi service operated under the Picton Water Taxis brand.

Our boats are out on the water 364 days of the year rain or shine. Our fleet of boats vary in size and can cater for individuals and groups.

Skipper – Beachcomber Cruises:

Beachcomber Cruises water transport operator is seeking a full time Skipper.

The position is available for a friendly, enthusiastic, vibrant, energetic outgoing skipper with a love for the Marlborough region, you will safely transport our guests from A to B whilst ensuring we are continuously delivering the magic.

The qualities of a successful applicant will include; flexibility, a great personality who is confident in providing safety briefings and running commentary during the cruise. Ensuring we are operating effectively in line with set timetables and schedules, skippering charter groups and engaging with guests.

To succeed in this role, you will be 100% customer focused and passionate about delivering a seamless and exceptional cruise experience to all our guests. Lifting and baggage handling will be part of your daily requirement.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following attributes:

-Must hold a current ILM (Ring Fenced) or SRL Certificate of Competence >24mtr with Passenger endorsement

-Valid Certificate of Medical Fitness

- Valid First aid certificate

- Experience with driving large catamaran vessels (16m)

- Vessel maintenance, engine servicing, housekeeping and maintaining the vessels MOSS Manuals.

- Take pride in personal appearance
- Have excellent time management skills and be able to work under pressure
- Experience in the Tourism industry is Preferable.

Starting date will be 1st Sept Permanent contract working a rotating roster and will include weekends.

Reservations - Beachcomber Cruises

We are looking for an experienced, flexible, keen and confident person to join our company, dealing with customers in our front reception for our water transport.

Responsibilities include guest check in, managing reservations using Rezdy, point of sale, and assisting with guest inquiries and requests.

The successful applicant will be:

Proactive, confident and with a warm and friendly personality
Well organised with the ability to multi task and complete detailed high-quality bookings
Thorough, accurate execution of business processes, reliable and dedicated

The successful applicant must be able to:

Work weekends
Utilize available resources to provide excellent guest satisfaction
Handle requests and transactions of guests and management
Coordinate with other departments, particularly liaising with skippers
Handle guest check-ins efficiently and in a professional manner
Listen to guest’s inquiries, understand and inform them of the itinerary they have booked.
Handle guest’s requests, issues and complaints satisfactory and pro-actively to produce good outcomes
Have a friendly phone and personal manner demonstrating proper telephone etiquette and taking accurate messages for guests and staff
Handle reservation calls and make accurate reservations
Know, understand and execute our policies and procedures
Have excellent English language skills both written and verbal
Maintain a professional standard of dress at all times
Be familiarized with using internet based reservations systems.
Have Experience in cash handling including Eftpos

Full training will be given to the successful applicant

Beachcomber Cruises is open 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day) summer hours 7am- 6pm.

Starting date would be 1st Oct working a rotating roster and will include weekends.
